Bring a Friend Sunday
Let’s have a conversation!
Level 1: The Innocent Icebreaker
What is the best gift you’ve ever given away?
What is the best gift you’ve ever received?
Level 2: Connecting with Today
How was church for you today?
What did you enjoy most?
Level 3: Talking About the Spiritual
Have you given much thought to spiritual things?
Have you ever thought about heaven?
Suppose you were to stand before God today and He asked you, “Why should I let you into heaven?” What would you say?
Level 4: Clarifying Ideas
What do you live for? Or What matters most to you in life?
2 Corinthians 5:15 says, “And [Jesus] died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.”
How would you put that verse into your own words?
Where would you put yourself on this spectrum?
Living for Self - Living for Christ
Level 5: Getting Real
What do you think causes the world’s problems? At the root of it all, are people a part of the problem?
Romans 3:10-12; 23 says, “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one. . . for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
At least in some small way, would you agree that your own sins are a part of the world’s problems?
Level 6: Searching for a Solution
Is there one solution that works for everyone?
Are there many solutions?
Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Peter, one of Jesus’ disciples said in Acts 4:12, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
And Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:21, “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
Does this make sense to you?
Level 7: How do we Respond?
After going to church today, going through these questions, and reading these verses do you think you understand what you would need to be right with God?
Can you think of any good reason why you would not be willing to receive Jesus into your life?
Would you like to pray right now to repent and receive Christ?
Leader Guide:
As you go through these questions here are a few important things to remember:
Don’t worry about saying the wrong thing, trust the Holy Spirit. You have been praying for this person and the Gospel is God’s power (Romans 1:16).
Answer the questions yourself. This doesn't have to be an interview but a conversation.
Share your own thoughts from the perspective of how Jesus has saved you and your own testimony.
Try to end the conversation with next steps. Some next steps might be:
- Set up another Sunday to come to church again with you (or finding their own church even if it is not Expectation)
- Setting up another time to talk further
- Filling out the baptism interest form
- Asking how you can pray for the person and even praying with them
