Mission Spain

In our Growth Track 201 Class, we talk about our motivation to serve at Expectation Church. Colossians 3:23 (ESV): "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men." This past month, 7 people went to Spain for a 3-fold mission: 1. Serve, minister and love the pilgrims along the El Camino. 2. Serve and love the church in the suburbs of Madrid on Easter Sunday. 3. Encourage the Casey family of 6 who have been working hard for the past 7 years. Things in and out of the team’s control immediately went wrong but God’s timing was too perfect for them not to see, even in their discomfort, how God was making a way for them and teaching them that His Grace really is sufficient. John 1:16 (ESV), which reads: "For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace"

About The Mission Spain

Hospitality, Evangelism, Respite House

And at the mission in-brief, when they were encouraged to “cover each other and don’t complain”, they took it to heart and served. Not only were they able to love on total strangers with warm greetings, hugs, conversation over hot coffee, cold water, clean bathrooms, or a bed and meal, but they were able to see the hard work that Josh and Brenda Lei Casey have put in to build the only non-Catholic church in their area. And, when things didn’t go as planned or expected, they were able to experience that discomfort and can understand some of what missionaries experience. Wherever they were, they pulled together, focused on the mission, covered for each other and didn’t complain. That was due in large part, to your prayers.

Thank you for your prayers and support!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The team saw first-hand how God was opening their eyes to see what was truly needed and what really wasn’t. They bonded as a team and if you ask any of them about their time in Spain, they would tell you about how they are newly passionate not just about supporting our missionaries with our church tithe, but about praying for them and reaching out with love and encouragement as they tirelessly serve. God was generous about showing them how His grace is sufficient when we were too tired, uncomfortable, lonely, or uncomfortable. Praise be to God that we learned so many lessons in such a short amount of time.
